The Department of Raw Materials Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized a symposium on the development of the electrolytic aluminum industry. Representatives of 11 backbone electrolytic aluminum enterprises, including the Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, and Chinalco Group, State Power Investment Corporation, and Weiqiao Group, attended the meeting.

Participants exchanged views on the production and operation of this year and the development trend of the aluminum industry during the "14th Five-Year Plan", and put forward policy recommendations on strictly controlling new production capacity, expanding applications, promoting green development and intelligent manufacturing. Everyone believes that the overall operation of the electrolytic aluminum industry has been stable since this year, especially since April, driven by the recovery of domestic consumption, aluminum prices have continued to pick up, and benefits have increased significantly. However, with the slowdown in consumption growth in traditional areas such as construction, emerging markets still need to be cultivated. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the aluminum consumption situation should be cautiously optimistic, and the risk of overcapacity cannot be ignored, enterprises should continue to carry out technological innovation, strengthen the fine management of energy consumption, environmental protection and carbon emissions, speed up intelligent transformation, promote cost reduction and efficiency increase, and improve the quality of development.
